BETA HAS BEEN RELEASED!
Yug_Etsap here, posting on ThatRussian's behalf, due to reasons. I even prepared a very in-depth FAQ for anyone having trouble with the beta.
FAQ:
Q: When I do thing, thing happens!
A: Beta.

Thank you, keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteWe can't report much since we can't get past Alma, she's too difficult to beat.
DeleteSorry boys, but you need at least fix this before you can really declare this a "beta version."
I would suggest that "Serene Mind" or "Fallen Angel Dance" should be dodgeble from her nasty tricks, especially SP drain and make her attacks less effective and give her more LP. She shouldn't be this tough compare to Luka's level standards. :/
Despite it being beta, I get a "not a valid win32 application" error when trying to launch the .exe file.
ReplyDeleteThe IRC is probably the best place to look for help regarding issues, since we'll need a more in-depth description of the problem.
DeleteI get that same error too.
DeleteHave you got a larger version of the picture in that post?
ReplyDeletePicture now clickable.
DeleteI'm already getting owned on first fight hahahaha
ReplyDeleteSame. Six Ancestor Tamamo was tough but beatable, Alma is just THE pain.
DeleteAlso it's probably not intentional but you can't struggle during her hold. SM and Fallen Dance have crap dodge rates, only have seen SM dodge the hold and one attack, and only one attack for FD, so you might as well not use them since it's a waste of SP. And her SP drain attack is a kick in the balls too, if she does it twice in a row you might as well just restart since you've got no chance.
DeleteFound another bug, I started off with Daystar and Alma binded me, that does trigger the counterattack but you remain binded and as I said before you can't struggle, attacking means instant loss so... yep.
DeleteThose bugs happened to me to, also if you surrender after she binds you it shows salamander rape scene... o.O, fallen dance is useless, but SM is essential cuz it dodges the bind everytime and some few attacks, the pain is that after she drains your level 2 times youre no more for her
DeleteIt's annoying because its the first fight of part 2 and is already unbalanced but, i know its going to be fixed so i'll give some more tries or wait until its balanced =P
DeleteActually salamander exe cant be open at 32 win (and old one got error of course) only for 64 or its mistake that is going to be repaired?
ReplyDeleteAre you on XP?
DeleteThe new exe won't work on XP. Fix should be coming, hopefully.
thanks you hopefully didnt forgotten about xp users
DeleteCan Alma actually be beaten?
ReplyDeleteProbably with a lot of luck =/
DeleteI beat Alma by using Serene Mind on the first turn, Daystar on the second, Guarding and then Charging before using Daystar again. Rinse and repeat, use Meditation whenever lower than 1000hp.
DeleteThis method takes a little bit of luck.(That means it fails completely if Alma uses her SP Drain skill three times in a row)
I could use your luck, I kept using the strategy you used but she keep abusing my SP, it's really frustrating.
DeleteI beat the beta and enjoyed it. im wondering what is still missing that will be in the full version of part 2 aside from maybe 2 game overs that aren't finished yet.
ReplyDeleteThere are quite a few bugs as the others said but I guess the answer to that is this is beta.
ReplyDeleteEither way the storyline just keeps getting more interesting.
What order did you guys get the spirits?
http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/masonry/000/653/088/f0e.jpg
ReplyDeleteAfter getting Gnome as the first spirit, you can still choose the Safina Region and decide to go after Gnome again, repeating the entire mission up till camp where you can choose to talk to Gnome, doing so crashes the game.
ReplyDeleteWhile on the quest to get Slyph, you can't use any skills in the fight against the Elf Archer or on the Chimera Dryad. And you skip right to camping near Salamander's mountain after a small scene post-Chimera Dryad fight, no option to head to the Noah Region first instead.
Also, could someone give me a tutorial on how to connect to the IRC chat with Mibbit?
DeleteWow I feel stupid, I didn't notice the "Report bugs HERE" button at the top :P
DeleteGonna copy and paste the bugs I found there.
Slyph is hard as hell tried everything and still nothing :D
ReplyDeleteIf Lucifina is about 10 times stronger than Luka, how did Luka defeat Ilias in her normal form? Is it because he had Alice and the spirits? Kind of confusing. Also, in this timeline, did Ilias heal Luka of his problem of holy energy eating into his body? Will things like this be answered later on into the story?
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit confused at the math myself, but I'll go with "The spirits and Alice and the four knights and Micaella." That's what made the difference. They soaked up some serious damage, and dealt some damage as well. Gnome boosted Luka's defense, Sylph and Undine made him dodge just enough, and Salamander gave him a boost in power...though I agree, even with all of that fact remains Ilias was BOOSTED herself. So unless the Spirits boost Luka ten times...
DeleteAh, just say that Tamamo was exagerating so as to not let Luka's ego grow too large...and so as to appear more powerful herself.
The second last fight in the original MGQ was against Ilias in her normal form, the last one against her Dark+Light form. Lucifina's power is not as great as Ilias' even in her normal form, yet Luka with his 4 spirits and Alice could force her to use her full strength. Compared to Ilias, Alice is not nearly as strong and wouldn't make much of a difference considering during her fight with her in the beginning of the story she could only scratch her face. Not only this, Heinrich was able to defeat Black Alice in her second form due to the power of the spirits and his mastery of them. He probably would not have stood a chance against her in third form. Yet Luka was able to defeat her in that form with enough strength left over to defeat an even more powerful boss. Does his angel powers make that much of a difference combined with the power of the spirits? If Luka's mastery of the spirits isn't as great as Heinrich's that would mean his angel powers would have to make up for it, yet if his power is only 1/10th of Lucifina's-who probably can't defeat Black Alice's 3rd form-he wouldn't have stood a chance.

>As expected of the one I entrusted to defeat Black Alice. \
>If you're going to resist this much, then I suppose you don't wish to be rewarded. @
>I shall have to show you my true power, then. \
He didn't defeat her normal form and drive her into a corner. She just decided he wasn't worth toying with anymore. That was how it was interpreted for NG+, anyway.
It could also just be that most of the endgame foe's Luka fight's aren't very skilled despite their power. Just look at the tactics they use in comparison to NG+ Tamamo's. Honestly I don't recall an enemy in the entire game that reacted so well to the changes in Luka's condition. Then when you add in how often Luka misses and how rare critical hits are without the spirit's, Luka seems to be clearly lacking in technique himself which he makes up for with sheer tanking ability.
DeleteThe answer is Meditation, for the most part. Remember when Alice noted how weird it was that Luka could heal himself over and over? Same thing during Tamamo fight in Part 2, when she heals.
DeleteFor people on XP who can't run the game, try using this .exe instead.
